• In Japan there's an event of 25000 people walking up during the night to the Mount Fuji summit [ultra walking]:

  • Start Climbing at Night for Sunrise Surprise at the Summit | “goraiko”
  • Make it happen | shinkansen train (covered by a Japan Rail pass) from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji (75mins), then the bus to Fujinomiya 5th Station
  • Walkopedia take: overrated. See alternatives suggested
  • Several optional trails lead up to Fuji-san
• First time ever I smelled a chocolate plant. Already tried the actual cacao fruit before. This was even better.
• Sweat and cold are really playing a simultaneous game while hiking, stopping and moving again
• We did 13 kms distance, and 600 mts of elevation gain. Which is very little compared to other adventures. But climb!

• Milena Gómez climbed Fitz Roy 3 times!!! (Some say that Cerro Torre is even harder).
